I Love You (Almost) Like a Blue Whale Loves You

After reading Brian Doyle’s “Joyas Voladoras,” I found myself taken aback by a single line from the piece. “The animals with the largest hearts in the world generally travel in pairs” (Doyles). While it’s understandable that the larger the heart an animal has, the more powerful it will be, it’s astonishing to think that there are other beings out there who can feel even deeper emotions than we do. They’re able to feel love with so much power it’s a beautiful concept to explore.

When you find yourself thinking of those you love most, it’s hard to comprehend that there is a possibility that more adoration could be given to anyone or anything. There is another species out there capable of more feelings than you are, and that’s insane considering you only know as much as your deepest emotions. This is not to say that your emotions aren’t valid (because they most definitely are), but rather, there is another living creature on this Earth that is experiencing the same feelings as you but in their level of extremity.

This strikes me since I tend to feel more love than I can bear, and it’s comforting to know that it’s not only me and other humans that experience this but other animals on the planet as well.
